PerfectIt for PowerPoint: A Joke Becomes a Dream
The first time that a customer told me they wanted PerfectIt for PowerPoint, I tried not to laugh. Our Chief Engineer and I joked about it. We even drew up a specification document for what it would look like. No matter what slide you ran it on, it would simply say “Use fewer words”.
However, the requests for PerfectIt for PowerPoint kept coming. We track every single request (no matter how odd it seems to us). We stopped joking when we reached five. At ten, we knew we had to understand more and we started researching it properly. At fifty requests, including from some of the biggest companies in the world, we started development.
Fifteen Years of PerfectIt
Ken Olsen, the founder of Digital Equipment Corporation, famously said in 1977, “There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home.”
Why We’re Not Adding AI to PerfectIt
From the outside it must look foolish. Is there really an editing software product that is not only avoiding AI, but actively marketing itself as not including AI? There is. And we’re proud to be that company.
Why Was PerfectIt Cloud Down for So Long?
While not everyone may have been aware of or effected by it, we recently had an outage of PerfectIt Cloud. Now, outages are the worst. You already know that. They mean you can’t access the service you paid for. And they often hit right before a deadline.
Why We Built a Plain Language Summary Style in PerfectIt
In December 2022 we launched our Medical Plain Language Summary style. It’s launched in beta as a living document, and we hope that the medical writing community will continue giving us feedback so that we can keep making it more useful for medical communicators working with plain language summaries.
Introducing New PerfectIt Subscriptions
In December 2022 we launched our Medical Plain Language Summary style. The Chicago Manual of Style Launches in PerfectIt 5
Today, The Chicago Manual of Style moves into proofreading software for the first time. I’m delighted to say that PerfectIt will be its platform. Whether the Manual is part of your work or the basis of your organization’s house style, The Chicago Manual of Style for PerfectIt will give you a new level of confidence in the text you deliver.
Why PerfectIt Cloud Seems to Get Worse Every Time We Make It Better
Sometimes the best way I can help people is to explain exactly what’s happening. In the case of PerfectIt Cloud, I think it’s going to surprise you. But let’s start with the big news that I know you wanted to hear. The Chicago Manual of Style for PerfectIt Has Feature Parity Across Versions.
Why PerfectIt Cloud Seems to Get Worse Every Time We Make It Better
Some of you reading this already know me. I run PerfectIt’s support. If you hate tech (or even if you love it), you might have wondered why someone like me has made customer support my career. I do it because I love helping people.
PerfectIt 4.1: Editors Into Educators
The new version of PerfectIt is a bigger deal than that “.1” suggests. As with any new software version, it has lots of small fixes and improvements. However, it has one huge new capability. For the first time, you can control exactly what PerfectIt checks. Now you can turn PerfectIt into a custom checker designed (by you) to lift writing standards at your organization.
Introducing PerfectIt 4.1
The new version of PerfectIt has much more than that “.1” suggests! For the first time, you can control exactly what PerfectIt finds. Now you can turn PerfectIt into a custom checker designed (by you) to lift writing standards at your organization.
What’s Better than Technical Support from the CEO?
What’s better than a company where the CEO answers support questions? It sounds amazing to have a direct line to the CEO. And anyone who has contacted Intelligent Editing for technical support over the last ten years has had literally that. What could possibly be better? Anything. Literally anything.
Launch of PerfectIt 4 (June 2019)
The most important changes in PerfectIt 4 are: Faster initial scan saves time on every document; New user interface with detailed previews and one-click fix; GPO Style added to built-in styles; Major updates to American Legal Style and WHO Style; Base new styles on existing styles; Combine styles to create new styles; Online help.
PerfectIt Cloud Now Available
PerfectIt Cloud brings all of PerfectIt’s checking to Mac and iPad users for the first time. Users will have the same experience using PerfectIt Cloud on any Office 365 device, whether working on Mac, PC, iPad or Word Online. It integrates directly into Microsoft Word via the Office Store.
Taking PerfectIt to a New Level
What users expect from a software product has changed in the decade since I introduced PerfectIt. In 2009, the iPhone was still new. There were no iPads. Mobile internet was in its infancy. And the ‘cloud’ referred to fluffy white things in the sky. Now customers expect a product to work across platforms, they expect it to sync across devices, they expect it to be easier to use, and they expect to pay less upfront.
