Inclusion is the better part of diversity

Why equality, diversity, and inclusion are important to us

PerfectIt users are keepers of the written word. They choose language consciously and invest time and effort in written communication. We believe that recognizing and changing biased language and behavior is a commitment everyone should share. Our choice of words and actions can make a significant difference.

At PerfectIt we value diversity and believe that diverse teams generate diverse ideas and great outcomes. Being a diverse and inclusive employer helps us fulfil our responsibility to aid customers in their most crucial work.

With customers from all walks of life and with myriad points of view, we strive to serve all corners of the writing world. We stand with those working to shine a light on all forms of exclusion and inequality.

We aim for a team that reflects all sections of society and our customers, where employees feel respected and able to give their best.

An inclusive culture is essential for promoting inclusive language and behaviour, and we want our team to feel safe to be their authentic selves.

We aim to create an environment that celebrates diversity. We are committed to ensuring that everyone is given equal opportunities to succeed, and we stand with those working to shine a light on all forms of exclusion and inequality.

Why conscious language is important

Some language, sadly, treats some people as intrinsically inferior. One of editing’s “golden rules” is to take care to not to use that language. Instead, we champion using language that is as inclusive, sensitive, and unbiased as possible: conscious language. In other words, language that treats people with the respect they deserve.

From an editorial perspective, conscious language is all about having the best effect on your readers. By using conscious language, your readers are likely to feel more respected, and you’ll be more accurate with the terms you use. Ultimately, your text will be more credible.

We encourage passion and we want all our team members to feel confident to share their ideas and opinions.

Compassion

We understand that everyone has needs beyond work, but we also understand that everyone has needs at work. That means we will always do our best to meet those needs.

Listening

Everything we do with our product comes from our community of users, and everything we do for our team comes from our employees. We listen to and communicate with our users and our teammates.

An acknowledgement

We admit it: we have yet to achieve all our goals in terms of diversity and inclusion. We take our commitment to improving equality seriously, recognizing that these are complex issues that are deeply ingrained in society. Therefore, achieving our objectives will take time. Even as we make progress, we know that our goals will continue to evolve as the world around us changes constantly.

Our goal is to make PerfectIt a great company to work for, where everyone feels represented and is treated fairly and equitably. We are dedicated to continuously reviewing and improving our approach to ensure that we prioritize equality, diversity, and inclusion as we grow.
